The Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association operates certified farmers' markets throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, making it possible for consumers to buy fruits and vegetables directly from the farmers that grow them.
Through its Market Match program, the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association helps CalFresh participants stretch their food dollars a little further — an average of 30% further — and purchase more fresh fruits and vegetables. Any CalFresh participant spending $10 or more of their benefits at a PCFMA farmers' market receives an additional $5 to spend at the market on fresh fruits and vegetable. The program has greatly increased the use of CalFresh benefits at these farmers' markets and improved the diet of CalFresh participants.
